CounterAttack is an innovative and effective combination of Christian counseling and mentoring that was developed by Ark of Hope for Children for young victims of child abuse. We know that the sooner we assist the victim, the better opportunity they have for very positive and dramatic life change. Abuse victims are usually found on the fringes of their peer groups; disconnected, angry, emotional and all too often on the verge of suicide. Most often they feel unaccepted by their peers, who don’t care or understand, while they do not trust adults, who abuse and/or discard them as unmanageable. Even so they yearn for someone compassionate who truly cares and desires to help them.
Counterattack is an outgrowth from Blair Corbett’s years of reaching out with empathy and Christlike love to the battle weary lives of these young abuse victims. He has found the Internet to be profoundly useful. By not seeing us face to face they feel more able to share their history, where in person they would often feel too ashamed and unprotected. As Ark of Hope for children increased its online exposure, more and more victims have made contact. Pastor Blair has personally worked with dozens of victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, severe neglect, emotional abuse, ritual abuse and spiritual ritual abuse. They test to see if we will reject them for their learned behaviors and survival skills that were taken on to protect themselves from ever being victimized again by a society that has pushed them away.
Child abuse victims have had extremely harsh and evil values forced upon them by their abusers. We must intercede on their behalf with a knowledge that evil intended to imprison and destroy these young lives forever. Ark of Hope for Children recognizes that we must stand in the gap for them using shields to protect, while we counter the abuse by equipping and empowering the victim with fresh life skills. CounterAttack allows them to build upon that abusive foundation thereby strengthening them to become truly compassionate caregivers and leaders of tomorrow.
Ark of Hope for Children’s CounterAttack program is designed to reach current victims of abuse at the point of their emotional need without discrimination or judgment.
Modeling Christlike behavior, our goal is for transformation and redirection of their scarred lives by breaking the chains of past abuse, leading them into lives filled with faith, hope and love”. We are dedicated to screening our licensed pastors and counselors to using those who will share our solid, compassionate and Christ-like values. Through Ark of Hope for Children God will transform these children using a strong foundation of love and hope that is deeply rooted in biblical values.
CounterAttack has gone largely unfunded for years, sustained only by God, and Blair’s undying desire not to turn his back on any child in need. We have never charged the victims a fee as most are under some form of protection from the very relatives or caregivers who could have paid for such assistance. Often Pastor Blair has logged 60 plus hours per week unpaid which we all know leads to unsustainability. Your support and donations are critical toward the CounterAttack program not just continuing, but growing. The need has grown exponentially with both the difficult financial times and the far reach of the internet itself.
